Tuesday notes

I've been strongly tempted several times in the past month to write about my day job and explain what is going on. But I think it's better not to blog at all than to mix work and pleasure!

I've got some photos taken now of the first weaving project on my new Voyageur loom, but I can't upload photos from home and couldn't get a library computer booked until Saturday a.m. I've been having fun and am looking forward to blogging about it at the weekend - watch this space.

I have also been:
  • knitting a pair of socks,
  • putting together a sock knitting kit for my sister so she can learn,
  • not buying books - well only the sock knitting book I chose for my sister and one bought with some present money left from Christmas and 3 bargains from a local 2nd hand book fair - believe me there's many more I didn't buy, yet,
  • reading several books,
  • reading everyone else's blogs - there seem to me more interesting weaving blogs all the time now, I love it!
  • spinning - I've got Lincoln Longwool on one spinning wheel, flax on another, finished a small skein of Manx Loghton last week,
  • re-arranging my weaving yarn stash and planning ways to use it,
  • started to remove debris and weeds from my dye plant patch and plan this year's new planting.

That's all for now folks!

  1. Congratulations on your new job! Not buying books is very labor intensive, I find, as it involves looking at so many on the internet...

  2. Looking forward to your pictures!!

Cool about the knitting and spinning going on....and jealous that you can see your dye plant patch. (Must not get bummed about the amount of snow on our garden!)

  4. I have to say that I would love to know about your job (but thats my naturel curiousity about people) and I sort of go along with keeping work and play seperate.
I'm re finding my spinning skills and trying to find out about dying. Im a complete novice ,so I will be very motivated to read anything you post about either. Also dye plants. That sounds fascinating and I have the space.

  6. You have been busy apart from getting settled into your new job. Looking forward to the weaving project on your new Voyageur.

  7. Helen, I'll have to write a blog post about the dye patch soon, meanwhile, it's time to go and find the seed packets.

Deborah, I do sympathise with your curiosity! The first 6 weeks in the new job have been a testing time, and a few things have had to be sorted out. I can't write about it, it's too much office politics and my work is confidential and ... and what is more I love having a space here and friends in a work-free zone!!

  8. Dot you make your job sound like some of the thriller novels I've been reading recently. Take care and keep weaving.

  9. Janet, my job is a bit like your books - I've lost all interest in novels and films since I changed career 3 years ago, I know more than enough about other people's lives at end of the working day! I'm sure that's how it is with a lot of jobs which involve "working with people".
